BC Hydro is planning to increase the capacity of two existing transmission circuits – 5L51 and 5L52 – which are located on a right-of-way between Ingledow Substation in Surrey and the Canada-U.S. border. This project is called the 5L51 and 5L52 Transmission Upgrade Project (TUP).
By increasing the capacity of these two circuits – which were built in the 1960s and 1970s – we can maximize the value of these existing assets. TUP will also help to ensure continued safe, reliable and reasonably priced electricity for BC’s growing communities.
