Environmental Assessment

An environmental consultant undertook the environmental assessment work for TUPs. The environmental assessment included:

  • Aquatic resources (fish and fish habitat)
  • Wildlife resources (species and habitat)
  • Species at Risk overview
  • Heritage and archaeological sites

It was undertaken on the areas around the towers to be raised (within an approximately 100 metre radius, including watercourses and ditches), as well as on the proposed worksite access routes, many of which are already established.

The results of these studies have allowed careful access planning and the development of work methodologies that will eliminate almost all potential environmental impacts. The minor vegetation impacts and the effects of removing the temporary access roads will be mitigated by seeding and planting restoration. The TUPs project will therefore result in no permanent environmental impacts.
